Born July 9, 1958, in Sacramento, CA, passed peacefully into the next journey on February 5, 2014, at home in Carmichael, CA, surrounded by loved ones. Preceded in death by his parents Roland Francis Hannah and Faye Helen Sheehy; he is survived by his wife of 28 years Mary, one child, three grandchildren, six siblings, dozens of nieces and nephews, and many great friends. A special shout out goes to Sam, Darrell, Kevin, Jeannette, Julie, Helen, Lorna, Matt, Leslie, Marta, and Scott, whom he considered his closest confidants over the years.
Kevin lived the majority of his life in the Carmichael area. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Assumption parish. During his childhood, he spent vacations at the Bolinas cabin and family ranches in Oregon and Canada. He graduated from El Camino High School in 1977. In 1979, Kevin joined the Army National Guard and served 6 years. In 1980, Kevin met his soul mate, Mary, and was her loving boyfriend for 33 years. Kevin and Mary spent their personal time dancing, hiking, fishing, camping, auto racing and traveling throughout the United States. Kevin had an enduring love for the game of basketball throughout his life.
In 1984, Kevin began his career in the Publishing Industry when he was hired by Cal Central Press as a delivery driver. Within a very short time, he was promoted to Prepress Apprentice and earned duel Journeyman cards for Stripping and Platemaking. Ultimately, he was promoted to Prepress Manager. He remained with the company when it sold and became American Litho. In 1998, he left American Litho and went to work at a publishing firm in the Bay Area for one year. In August 1999, Kevin went to work for the Office of State Publishing in the Prepress as an Associate Printing Plant Supervisor. During his employment at OSP, he promoted up to Printing Services Program Manager. In January 2009, Kevin was asked to be the Acting California State Printer when the appointment was vacated by the incumbent. Kevin worked as Acting State Printer providing a foundation for advancing technology, cost effectiveness, and superior customer service as evidenced by the numerous industry awards and customer accolades OSP received during this time. In November 2012, the Governor appointed a State Printer and shortly after Kevin was assigned as the Assistant State Printer. He was passionate about Publishing and cared deeply for the people at OSP.
On February 12, 2014, a Christian mass will take place at 11 am at Our Lady of the Assumption parish, 5057 Cottage Way, Carmichael CA 95608, 916-481-5115. A reception will follow for Friends and Colleagues at 2 pm at the Office of State Publishing, 344 N 7th Street, Sacramento CA. An additional mass will be held at a future date in Union, Oregon. Interment will be private.
