In loving memory of Kenneth Timothy Hayman, (74), of Placerville, California, who departed on September 28th, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and an enduring zest for life that continues to inspire us. Kenneth, affectionately known as Ken or Papa, was a devoted family man, a pillar of faith, and a passionate enthusiast who touched countless lives.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Donna, who brought immeasurable joy and companionship to his life for 24 amazing years. He is also survived by his three children from his first marriage, Lance, Shaun, and Casey, as well as numerous grandchildren, extended family, and siblings.
Kenneth was born to Kenneth and Eleanor Hayman in Norwalk, California during the late 1940s baby boom. As the eldest of five siblings, Kenneth took his role of big brother seriously, ensuring their safety in the Sandlot-esque setting of their neighborhood. His "First Born Son" syndrome may have led to teasing, but he also brought the joy of music into their home, dancing to tunes by the Beach Boys, Beatles, Jan and Dean, and the sounds of surfing safari. Kenneth was not just a big brother but a lifelong protector and fiercely loving presence in the lives of his siblings. He made sure that none of them felt forgotten.
Kenneth's love for racing began in his youth when he raced quarter midget cars alongside his father. His enthusiasm for speed was evident when he drove his Olive Green Firebird, occasionally giving his loved ones a thrill in the passenger seat, but always keeping his wheels on the road. He harbored a dream of owning a Porsche someday, as evidenced by a poster in their garage. A dream that would be realized later in life as a 2001 Porsche Boxster now sits in his garage, undoubtedly maintained with the utmost care. This shared adventure ignited a lifelong passion, which he passed on to his grandchildren, cheering and encouraging them from the pits, bleachers, and grandstands.
From an early age, Kenneth's passion for surfing and sports shaped his identity. He learned to surf at Sunset and Bolsa Chica Beach and savored post-surf hot dogs in Huntington Beach. His love for baseball grew during his time playing in Little and Pony leagues in Norwalk. He remained a loyal fan of the Dodgers and the LA Rams, reflecting his steadfast commitment to the things he held dear.
Kenneth's career as a manufacturing engineer, including his contributions to the aerospace industry, filled him with immense pride and accomplishment. His dedication and work ethic became invaluable lessons for his own sons, who are forever grateful for his guidance.
An avid outdoorsman, Kenneth found solace in the mountains, lakes, and rivers, creating countless memories on camping trips filled with hiking, fishing, and sightseeing. His connection with the natural world was a testament to his appreciation of life's simple pleasures and God's creation.
Devoted to his faith, Kenneth was a steadfast member of Green Valley Community Church for over 20 years, embodying unwavering values and a commitment to a purpose-driven life. He never pushed his faith onto others but found joy in planting seeds of his beliefs.
A skilled craftsman, he found solace in woodworking and knife forging, leaving behind cherished pieces for his family and friends. He was a constant seeker of knowledge, eagerly sharing his discoveries with family and strangers alike.
Kenneth was deeply loved by family and friends, and his memory will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
A celebration of Kenneth's life will take place on Thursday, November 9th, at 1 pm at Green Valley Community Church. As we remember Kenneth, let his love for family, unwavering faith, thirst for knowledge, and passion for life inspire us. While Kenneth may be physically gone, his legacy remains a cherished part of our lives, and he will be greatly missed.
