August 9, 1946 – December 7, 2011
Donald, better known as Don to family and friends passed away too soon December 7, 2011. He was born August 9, 1946 in Sacramento, CA to Wilma and John Brown who both preceded him in death. He was raised by his grandparents Ben and Maggie Romesburg whom he lovingly called Mom and Pop.
It was at the age of sixteen that Don met the love of his life Jody Gutierrez (Brown). They were later married on November 5, 1966. They spent the next 49 years together practically inseparable.
Don moved his family to El Dorado County in 1977, where with the help of relatives, he built their home, a home the family still resides in today.
Don leaves behind his beloved wife Jody, his daughters Michelle (Dustin) Petrie & Jolene (Gabe) Hodges. He also leaves behind his granddaughters Ashley, Alyssa and Alexandra Petrie, who loved their Papa very much. He is finally reunited with his eldest daughter Stephanie Brown, whom preceded him in death. Don also leaves behind a sister-in-law, brother-in-law, a niece and nephew. He’ll be remembered by numerous family and friends.
Don prided himself in his dedication to family, friends and his work. He worked for Huhtamaki in Sacramento for almost 40 years. He made sure everyone around him knew how much they were loved with hugs, kisses, laughter and a contagious smile. He had a love of Harleys, muscle cars, restoring his prized Mach 1 Mustang and watching the Kings games. He never missed Hot August Nights or spending time with his family on several family vacations. He also tried to spend as much time as he could with his wife and his best friend of 52 years Luis (Martha) Hernandez.
He will truly be missed and his memory cherished by those he leaves behind. May he live on forever in the spirit of the love and dedication he taught us all, for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so very much.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Healing All Together snowlinehospice.org. Friends may sign a guestbook and leave condolences at www.chapelofthepinesfunerals.com. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, Placerville.
