Bruce John David Crawford was born Sept 2, 1948 to Gordon and Marion Crawford in Vancouver, British Columbia. He and his family moved to Redwood City, CA when he was a small child. He grew up there and graduated from Sequoia High School in 1967. Bruce joined the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War. Afterwards, Bruce returned to the area and worked in road construction as a member of Operating Engineers Local Union #3.
Bruce met the love of his life, Genevieve Howell Smith, and married in 1984. They lived in the Bay Area until they retired and moved to Pollock Pines in 2005.
Bruce is survived by three children: Dennis Smith of Woodland, Wash; Theresa Smith of Red Bluff, CA; and Katherine Smith of Sacramento, CA.
He is survived by nine grandchildren for whom he will always be Santa Claus: Sarah Smith, Reno, NV ; Charlene (Gene) Rodrigues, Michael Watkins, Nicole, Robert and Troy Smith all of Sacramento; Ashley Manning, Genevieve (Tyler) Naron and Scott Piaia all of Red Bluff.
Bruce is survived by four great-grandchildren - Emma, Ava, Connor and Marcello plus Maleigha who is on the way.
He is survived by three siblings: Neil (Glenda) Crawford, Fargo, ND, Maribelle (Larry) Eitzen, Eureka, and Charlotte (Mario) Zelaya, Santa Rosa.
Bruce is also survived by a special group of friends from Green Valley Community Church
with whom he volunteered in the food closet for seven years. You know who you are.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2/28/2012, at 1:00PM (visitation 12:00 to 1:00), Chapel of the Pines Mortuary, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville, CA with interment following at Westwood Hills Cemetery.
