Virginia “Ginny” Ulrich, 92, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023 in Pittsburgh. She was born to the late Thomas and Roxy King in Willacoochee, Georgia on April 21, 1931. Ginny is preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Ulrich; her son, Edward Ulrich; her daughter, Virginia “Ginger” Runco; her great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Krohe; and her sisters, Margie, Jean, Ida, and Alice.
Ginny was, above all else, a devoted mom and grandmother; she loved nothing more than time spent with her family. Ginny’s giving spirit combined with her exquisite decorating skills easily made Christmas her favorite holiday. She found true joy in giving to others, and her ability to transform a house into a loving home made the holidays magical. She could often be found hard at work in her warm kitchen, making a beautiful meal for her family (and dressed so lovely while doing it!). When she wasn’t spending time with family, Ginny worked in the dental field for many years. Ginny also loved to sing from a young age, telling everyone she met that she sang in a Tom Thumb Wedding play as a little girl. This love of singing and music continued throughout her life. Ginny will also be remembered for her love of flowers, shopping, and all things pink. Her commitment and love for her family will remain with each of us always. She will be deeply missed.
Ginny is survived by her daughter, Lynn Gendian (Fred); her grandchildren, Frank Krohe, John Krohe (Colleen), Michael Krohe (Kristyn), Charles Zubik, and Amy Brooks (Tim); great-grandchildren Jessica, Reilly, Brendan, Reagan, Brody, Skylar, and Gunner; and other loving family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 1pm-3pm at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 where a memorial service will follow at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Ginny’s memory to Family Hospice, 310 Fisk Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201.
