Ruth Arlene “Arlene” (Esch) Caye age 84, of Bridgeville, formerly of Bellevue, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Asbury Heights in Mt. Lebanon, due to the last few years of carrying the cross of several medical conditions. Born October 18, 1939, in Carnegie, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Ruth (Peters) Esch.
Arlene, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of having her in their lives. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and her unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was a member of the Bellevue United Presbyterian Church for most of her adult life and served as a Deacon. Continuing to attend Bellevue UP after her moves around the North Hills of Pittsburgh to when she moved to her apt in Bridgeville. Later joining the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Bridgeville. She enjoyed cooking, baking, watching cooking shows and visiting with friends & family. A lot of Arlene’s spare time was pure entertainment...being there for everything for her grand kids. Trips to the Circus and Ice Capades followed by 14 years of dance recitals, 16 years of baseball and softball games along with countless football games for cheer and the game, hockey games and church plays and bells. She enjoyed watching and being apart of every aspect of her grandkids lives.
Arlene had a few different jobs along her journey from a waitress at Sweet Williams in Bellevue and Allegheny Center Mall to the Candy Counter at the downtown GC Murphy’s. She then found her career in the daycare field for 20+ years MAGIC YEARS now known as KinderCare, Arlene was one of the caregivers in the Infant Room. The bonds she built with these families, both parents and children, along with coworkers, was still very much apart of her life after all these years. Arlene retired in her 70’s but only from KinderCare. She continued to house sit, dog sit and child sit for several additional years.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Francis D. Caye and brothers Richard Esch, Ronald Esch and sister in law Verna (Wayne) Esch and nephew Bobby Wayne Esch.
She is survived and missed by her one loving daughter and son in law; Michele (Arthur) Rutkowski, two cherished grandchildren; Madelyn and Zackary Rutkowski. Also surviving, one sibling, Wayne Esch and 2 sister in laws, Sue Esch (Ronald) and Denice Esch (Richard). In addition, she is survived by her nephews who adored her dearly David (Lynn) (Children Matthew and Lili), Keith (Gwen) (Children Nicole and Andrew), Michael (Carol) (Children Benjamin and Amanda) and nieces Scottie Esch and Mary (Tom) Stacey with several great nephews and nieces. Arlene’s family was extensive, although Arlene divorced Fran in 1996, she still remained in communication with the family Sharon (Ray) McConnell (Children Debbie (Michael) Conroy and Lorrie McConnell (Kevin McKeever). Noreen (Joe) Jezerski (Children Larry, Jay, Jeff (Barbie), Timmy and Rina Jezerski). Late Gerry and Pete Carevic (Children Patty (Glenn) McKee and Yvonne (Mike) Janosko. Late Walter (Diane) Caye (Children Tammey (Steven) Fleming, Chris (Tammy) Caye and Tina (Dwayne) Caye-Gilson). Late Mercedes and Ted Moerman (Children FR. Stephen and Barbara Moerman). Francine (Tom) Scates (Children Denise (John) Tackle and Doug Halvay; continued by numerous great nephews and nieces.
Friends will be received at the H.P Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., on Thursday, October 3rd from 3pm until 8pm. Services will take place on Friday, October 4 at 11am at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., followed by the interment at Allegheny County Memorial Park.
