A Canevin High School graduate and proud Air Force Vietnam Veteran from 1965-1969, he served in the 1st Mobile Communications Group. He was also proud of his involvement with the Apollo 8 program in December of 1968.
A true Trekkie, Ron had a huge love for the USAF Museum, NASA, Sedona, Arizona, the music of John WIlliams, History and historical documentaries, popsicles, chocolate Twizzlers, and banana split blizzards from Dairy Queen.
He took life by the horns in his adventures while traveling. Especially his trip white water rafting down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. Words of wisdom that he lived by and passed on to his kids were to, “Don’t stop fighting regardless of the odds.”
The family wish to extend heartfelt thanks and blessings to the staff at 3 Rivers Hospice. Words cannot express the true measure of their care and support.
Friends and family received from 12:30pm – 1:30pm on Wednesday July 27th at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Mt. Lebanon, PA. Funeral service to follow. Private interment on Thursday July 28th at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, or the Disabled American Veterans in his memory.
