Robert Edward Viney, Sr. 89, of Volant formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at UPMC McCandless Hospital. He was born May 11, 1932 in Pittsburgh to the late William and Violet (Snyder) Viney.
Husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, Robert Edward Viney, Sr. was called home to be with our Lord. Our hearts are broken. Bob was the best husband; Shirley saw that in him when she was 5 years old and he stole her sled. She turned to her friends and said, “I am going to marry him someday.” Well, 66 years, 7 children, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren brings us to today. We have lost a great man. Tall, strong and very handsome, he loved his family very much and showed that love in many ways. He was a truck driver by trade and loved it. He also loved his trucking music. He could sing Convoy from memory. He also loved to draw and was very good at it. He passed that gene to multiple children and grandchildren. But most of all, he loved his family. We are all sad, but know that we are all better off and lucky for having him in our lives for as long as we did. We carry the best of him with us in our hearts that can never be taken away. He is our hero forever.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Hwy., Pittsburgh, PA 15237 where a blessing service will be conducted on Friday October 22, 2021 at 11:00 am. Entombent will follow at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery.
