Even as a child, Bob, loved anything dealing with electronics and built a ham radio station in the attic when he was in early teens. He was very bright, and focused intently on what ever he was doing. He had a big heart and a generous spirit. When he decided to do something for someone, he went at it 100%. He once drove a woman and her children many miles to their home when he saw them stranded on a NY highway.
He loved to meet people. When the family took a train on vacation when he was about 8 years old, he went up and down the aisles to meet everyone before we barely had left the station. Clearly he had trouble staying still for a minute.
Bob had a great sense of humor and loved to play jokes on you. His smile lit up his whole face. His openness and big heart will be missed. I can still see his smile (after many years and over the phone) when I said its your sister, Judy, and he said "really"). He had served in the Army.
Although Bob was distanced from his birth family, he truly had a family of caring others in the Andersons (Patti and Deane) and the Seminole VFW family in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida.
Bob is survived by his sister, Judith S. Michael of Pittsburgh, two nieces and a nephew, Susan Maloney, Jane Portman and Jonathan Michael.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
