Marie “Eleanor” Pagliaro passed away on August 30, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born on March 4, 1927 to Marie and Anthony Yocca in Pittsburgh, Pa. Her parents were originally from Calabria, Italy. Eleanor was a 1944 graduate of Westinghouse High School and lived most of her life in Pittsburgh. On June 12, 1948 she married the love of her life, James A. Pagliaro and they had one son, James. Later in life she worked for Design Group North where she developed many lifelong friendships. Eleanor’s passion and joy in life was cooking and baking for family, cherished friends and neighbors. She was famous for her delicious meatballs and sauce as well as her traditional Italian cookies during the holidays. Bread was always her favorite part of any meal! She was also a lifelong Pittsburgh Steeler fan known for wearing her
Steeler socks and blanket during their games in hopes of ensuring a win!
Eleanor is survived by her son, James A. Pagliaro, Jr. and his wife Loretta of Ramsey, N.J. Grandma will sorely be missed by her granddaughters and their spouses: Suzanne and Matthew Berkovitch of Braintree, Ma., and Katherine and Travis Noble and their son Wyatt, of Hawthorne, N.J. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband James A. Pagliaro and by her brother Basil Yocca and his wife Edie of Florida.
A Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, at 10 am, at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Hwy., Pittsburgh, Pa. Entombment will follow at Allegheny County Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1600 Duncan Ave., Allison Park, Pa.
