Marguerite S. "Margie" Schaefer, age 94, of Ross Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2019. Preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Maguerite (Weber) Stroje and brother Robert Stroje; she is survived by her loving husband William F. "Bill" Schaefer; devoted children Craig (Polly) Schaefer, Martha J. Schaefer, and Stephen (Jeannie) Schaefer; grandchildren Jessica (Harsh) Agrawal, Stephanie (Jon Siella) Schaefer and William (Jenn) Schaefer; great grandchildren Mason Hensler and Chandra Agrawal; and sister-in-law Inez Stroje.
A woman of incredible faith and devotion to God, Margie was a devout member of Riverview United Presbyterian Church, where she founded the Riverview Thrift Store, served as director of the the Food Pantry, and was a life-long member of the church choir. Blessed with a beautiful voice, she was a paid alto soloist, also singing with the Mendelssohn Choir and the Musicanters. Earlier in life, Margie was honored as state champion drum major in 1948. She served on the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank as well as president of the Women's Auxillary of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers.
Friends invited Friday, January 3rd from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Riverview United Presbyterian Church, 3505 Perrysville Ave., Observatory Hill (North Side) where funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4th at 10:30 AM. Private interment in Mt. Royal Cemetery, Shaler Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Margie's memory are suggested to Riverview United Presbyterian Church.
