John H Hirth Jr.

John H. Hirth, Jr. 88 of McCandless, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015. He was born December 23, 1926 in West View, a son of the late John H. Hirth, Sr. and Jennie (Rohrbacher) Hirth. John was a proud veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, having served during WWII. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Bell Telephone as systems technician. John had a longtime involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, first as a youth and then as a scout leader. His devotion to scouting was recognized with his receipt of the prestigious Silver Beaver Award.

He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth S. (Stark) Hirth; loving father of John H. (Sue) Hirth III, Ronald E. (Kathy) Hirth and Shirley Lynn (John) Dunham; brother of Carl (Jackie) Hirth and the late Don (Ruth) Hirth; he is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 6-8pm and Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the HP Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Hwy, Ross Twp., 412-364-4444, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11am.
