We said a final good bye yesterday to an amazing person, an amazing and loving father, father-in-law, and grandfather. Reflecting on the events of the past few days, while extremely difficult to get through emotionally, some major things shined through that you taught me over the 17 years I knew you,and we actually spoke about these things at a family funeral 12 years ago this coming November. You said to me that if at the end of a man's life he held dignity and respect from others, and if he left this life with two or three close and trusted friends, this man could consider himself a lucky man. You also said to me if people wish to lead successful and productive lives, they need to strive to be a success by doing the right things as upstanding people who are steady in character and lead their lives with grace and dignity. I followed this example and I still do to this day as much as possible and for that I thank you John Chapman. Many, many conversations we had on Saturday nights at the house, on the game Warcraft, and on many trips and fun times I'll/we will never forget. You understood why Steve and I do the things we do in our life, and for that I thank you for being the person you were. You raised a great son who is following your examples to a tee and I'm proud to say I am his wife. Your sweet granddaughters Layney and Ashley are going to miss you very, very much. Some of this they are too young yet to understand, but Steve and I will be sure to keep you alive in them-ou can be certain of this. I don't think that will be difficult :)-You had such a great effect on everyone you met. We lost a great man, but we have many many great memories and photos and videos to remember you with until we meet again. We Love you John and Grand pap.

Shirley & family - Kim and I are so sorry for your loss. Though I met John through work I never considered him to be a customer - he was my friend. The world is a much sadder place now. Take care, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

There's no greater respect I can think of that a son can pay to his Father than to say that I learned how to be a completely fulfilled and contented man from him.

From filling my life through sharing with others to gaining respect through humility, from how to speak loudly with silence to showing strength through compassion, my Father imparted wisdom to me for each of life's intricate lessons in word and in deed. 

There's are endless ways to describe it and endless examples I could put forth, but maybe the most simple, straightforward way says it best... I am a happy man because of the things I learned from my Father. It's the clear minded vision and philosophy of optimistic hope he shared with me that make it easy for me to recognize and celebrate my own blessings... a beautiful wife, two amazing kids, a close knit family, and work I love to do. 

It's my Dad who made me capable and worthy of these things, and as I raise my own children I'm reassured time and again that I couldn't ask for a more perfect example to follow.
