Joan (Cooper) Giltinan

Joan C. Giltinan (nee Cooper) of Sebastian passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024 at the age of 86. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Cooper, and the wife of the late Paul J. Giltinan. She is survived by her beloved brother Larry Cooper (and wife Kathleen,) dear stepsons Timothy T. Giltinan (and wife Lynn,) and John Giltinan, and loving grandsons Joshua Giltinan (and wife Yilin,) and Jeremy Giltinan.

She is preceded in death by stepsons Paul Giltinan Jr, David Giltinan and Patrick Giltinan.

Joan was also loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Joan grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and was a lifelong Steelers fan. As an adult, she moved to Chambersburg, PA where she taught physical education and health to high school and college students. There she married and helped her husband Paul raise four sons while remaining an active member of the community. Later in life, she and Paul moved to the warmth of Sebastian, FL. Wherever she lived, Joan put faith and church at the center of her life whether serving as an elder, choir member or thrift store organizer. She was dearly loved by all who encountered her.

Memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Sebastian on Saturday, April 13th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to VNA Hospice House of Vero or First Presbyterian Church of Sebastian.
