George E. Carlin was born March 10, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, PA to Thomas A. and Lorraine E. (Amend) Carlin. George met his wife, Carol Lee (Zawojski) Carlin through their local bowling leagues and they were married on June 8, 1968. They lived in Sewickley, Pa for most of their lives together. George and Carol dedicated much of their time and energy to the Elks Lodges in Pittsburgh. George and Carol were also heavily involved in the Elks National Veterans Service Commission, an organization which serves veterans and their families. George volunteered for the nonprofit organization, Sharing & Caring, Inc., which is dedicated to helping hospitalized veterans. Along with Carol, George enjoyed making a difference in the lives of veterans and helped to organize fun events, like the annual boat ride on Pittsburgh’s Gateway Clipper, where lunch and entertainment was provided for veterans. He will be greatly missed.
George is survived by his sister-in-law Cynthia Zawojski. of Overland Park, Kansas and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Rosemary Aul, James Carlin, Thomas Carlin, William Carlin, Lorraine Cieslak and Regina Carlin.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023 from 4 pm-8 pm at H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME, 1032 PERRY HIGHWAY, PITTSBURGH, PA 15237. A memorial service will be led by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks at 7 pm at the funeral home, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Sharing & Caring, Inc., P.O.
