Gail Lee (Hamburg) Grossi, 68 of McCandless passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015. She was born September 30, 1946 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Alex and Charlene Hamburg. Gail was a graduate of North Allegheny H.S. She furthered her education in Mexico, Hawaii as well as locally, having graduated Clarion University with an MBA. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Don Grossi; her three children, Heidi L., Dawn C. Flenner and Troy A.; as well as her siblings, Michael, Jeep and Cheryl.
Gail had quite an accomplished life. In high school she was the lead singer of a five member band, which had a signature song, “Angel baby.” She was fluent in Spanish and was once a Spanish teacher. She was a former gymnast as well as a gymnastic instructor. Gail also served as the business manager of one of their family owned companies. As a beloved wife, she was a constant supporter of all her husband’s endeavors and never told him “no.” But most of all she was a mother, having devoted herself to her family, ensuring happiness and the success of her children.
In her spare time, Gail had quite a few hobbies and interests. She loved her two dogs, Cricket and Windy. Her love for the dogs lead her to create wardrobes for them, ensuring they were the best dressed dogs on the docks and at home. She thrilled in cruising the Great Lakes for over 20 years on the family yacht, the “GailForce”. She was an avid collector of bronzes, porcelain figurines and Faberge eggs. She also exhibited a life commitment to the restoration, preservation and ownership of classic and antique automobiles. She also had quite the green thumb as well. That green thumb could be witnessed all around her 100 plus year old home, where she planted and nourished all types of flowers and plants.
Gail will be remembered as a kind and gracious individual that never met anyone that she didn’t immediately like.
Friends will be received Tuesday evening from 5-8pm in the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp., 412-364-4444. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10am in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
