Edgar "RED" Schmiedlin, age 93, of the North Side Pittsburgh, PA. Was the son of the late Jacob and Emily (Watts) Schmiedlin. Red was reunited with his beloved late wife of 68 years Gloria (Killmeyer) Schmiedlin on January 3, 2024. He was beloved father to Reid (Jeannine) Schmiedlin, Vicky (Tim) Dopp, Steven Schmiedlin, Charles (June) Schmiedlin. He was lovingly called Pappy by his grandchildren Ryan, Risa, Raya, Charlie, Brandon and Ally and "Old" Pappy by his 7 great grandchildren. "Red" is survived by his sister in laws Margaret Schmiedlin, Linda Killmeyer and Nellie Campbell and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Jacob Schmiedlin, and sisters Emily Marx and Catherine Wilhelm.
"Red" enjoyed and loved golfing, he had 2 hole-in-ones; one at the Franklin Park Golf Course and the other at Hartman Golf Course in Zelienople PA. "Red" was a United States Army Veteran who served his country honorably during the Korean War. He was a tuna noodle casserole culinary genius and enjoyed playing Texas Holdom with his family.
"Red" was a proud Pittsburgher who retired from The Iron City Beer Company after 43 years of service.
Friends and Family are invited the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home 1032 Perry Hwy Pittsburgh PA 15237 on Sunday January 7, 2024, from 3PM to 7PM. Full Military Honors will take place on January 8th, 2024, at Allegheny County Memorial Park 1600 Duncan Ave. Pittsburgh PA 15101. Please meet at the funeral home at 9:45AM.
