Daniel J. O’Keefe (59), of Pittsburgh, PA, passed on September 8th, 2022. Dan is survived by his mother Lois (née Mitchell) his sister Tracey, his wife Theresa (née DiDomenico), and his children Rebecca, Sami, and Jake. He will be joining his father, David, who was laid to rest in 2020.
Dan was an active member of the Northgate School Board and the Pennsylvania School Board Association (PSBA). His dedication to public education will continue to benefit students for years to come.
Dan was a well-admired project manager with Galletta Engineering, a respected member of Christ Church at Grove Farm, and a beloved community member who inspired others wherever he went. Dan was a generous and community-oriented soul. He consistently volunteered for more than he had time for - and used his project management skills to somehow make his schedule work.
Dan was an amateur sommelier and shared his love of fine wine with his wife, Theresa. He was an armchair historian and casual genealogist, sharing his love of history with his daughter, Sami. An avid lover of roller coasters, he shared his joy of the ups and downs at Kennywood with his son, Jake. His love of musicals, ABBA, and 80’s “Dad rock” he shared with his daughter, Rebecca. In spite of his allergies Dan loved animals, including his “grand puppy” and “grand kitties”. He was a dear “dog dad” to four pugs and enjoyed long naps on sunny days with them.
Dan was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend. We are all better for knowing you, better for loving you, better for having met you. We are heartbroken by this loss, but grateful that he is no longer in pain.
We welcome you to celebrate Dan’s life this Tuesday and Wednesday at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home (1032 Perry Hwy, Pittsburgh, PA 15237). The viewing on Tuesday will be from 2pm-8pm and Wednesday, the viewing will be at 10am, with a service to follow at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial tributes be directed to Dan’s funeral fund to assist with expenses.
“The family would like to thank AIU and the Northgate School District for the lovely memorial graphic”
