Charles Richard Parish, 65, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 8 after a brief and sudden illness. Charles, known to his family as Chuck and his friends as Charlie, was born in Iowa to parents Dorothy Brehm Parish and Richard Jones Parish, as the youngest of four children. When Charles was 13 his parents moved to Pittsburgh, where they and Charles spent the remainder of their lives. He was baptized, raised, and confirmed in the United Methodist Church. After he graduated from North Hills High School he attended Edinboro College in Erie, PA where he majored in Communications. Many of his high school and college friends remained close lifelong friends.
Charles met his life partner Mitzi Lisa Lieberth in high school, and they were a loving couple for 26 years until his death. He worked in construction, with hanging drywall his specialty. His passion was writing music, and singing and playing guitar and drums in a rock and roll band, the Stucco Pyramid. He enjoyed making tie-dye t-shirts for family and friends and working with Mitzi in their garden. He was known for the time and care he devoted to his elderly parents. The couple especially enjoyed going “up to camp” on French Creek over the years.
He is survived by his partner Mitzi Lisa Lieberth; his sister Michele Parish Zuniga and nieces Mary Abilene Parish-Pixler Cunningham (Genea) and Rebekah Lynn Parish-Pixler Griffith (Benjamin) and great nephews Rylan Thomas and Sean Wesley and great niece Carys Aislyn; his brother Timothy (Janet) Parish and nephew Jon Paul and great nephew Storm Alexander; nephew Richard Lyn (Chastity) and great nephew William Alexander and great nieces Kynzleigh Dawn and Anastasia Lorene; niece Catherine Elizabeth Bixby and great nephews Caius Joshua and Aceson Eli and great nieces Aria Grace and Ella Rae; and nephew Mark Allan (Brandi) Parish and great niece Lily Marie; his cousin Deborah Baird Bishel (William) and her daughter Jennifer (Rylan) Bolling; cousins Michael Sterling Parish and Steven Jon Parish.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Dorothy Parish; his brother Paul Edward Parish; his aunts and uncle Mary Brehm Mohler (Richard), Mary Virginia Parish Baird (James), and Jon (Mary Bernadette) Parish.
There will be no public memorial service. Funeral arrangements entrusted by the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home 1032 Perry Hwy Pittsburgh PA 15237.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Allegheny General Medical Center for their skilled and thoughtful care, especially the surgeons, nurses, palliative care and hospice workers.
