After graduating from Holy Ghost Academy in Pittsburgh, Carol worked in retail and held several other miscellaneous jobs throughout her lifetime. She met her husband, George E. Carlin, through their local bowling leagues and they were married on June 8, 1968. George and Carol dedicated much of their time and energy to the Elks Lodges in Pittsburgh. Carol even earned the title of Exalted Ruler for three terms (two terms in McKees Rocks and one term in Oakmont). Carol and George were also heavily involved in the Elks National Veterans Service Commission, an organization which serves veterans and their families. Carol also served as secretary for the nonprofit organization, Sharing & Caring, Inc., which is dedicated to helping hospitalized veterans. She enjoyed making a difference in the lives of veterans and helped to organize fun events, like the annual boat ride on Pittsburgh’s Gateway Clipper, where lunch and entertainment was provided for veterans. She will be greatly missed.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of almost 55 years, George E. Carlin; brother, Frank (Cynthia) Zawojski, Jr. of Overland Park, Kansas; many nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
