Audrey Jean Troxler Edsall, age 80, passed away on March 10, 2021, at her home in Pittsburgh, PA, after a long illness. Audrey was born on December 12, 1940, in Bloomingdales, N.J. to Julius and Marion Troxler. Known as the Troxler girls, Audrey was the middle sister to Joyce Pollison (deceased) and Sharon Moore (Tom) who resides in Tennessee. Audrey and her husband, Rev. Dr. William F. Edsall, were married in 1959 and would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary on March 14. Audrey attended William Paterson College, where she earned her teaching degree. Following a year working as a long term substitute teacher she accepted a permanent teaching position at The Marion McKeown school in Hampton Township in New Jersey. She was beloved by her students who considered her their own version of Carol Burnett, giving her a comedian award for her humor. After twenty six years she retired from teaching in 2001.
Devoted mother and grandmother, she took a keen interest in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Audrey exhibited a sense of adventure and enjoyed traveling, visiting all fifty states and twenty-seven foreign countries. She was comfortable no matter if the accommodations were a pop-up tent trailer or a luxury cruise cabin. Many of the family's early trips were to historic locations and both her and Bill had a special affinity for Colonial Williamsburg and visited there often. In their travels abroad the two of them also got to visit Israel and the Holy Land to see sites from the Bible.
In her spare time she enjoyed needle crafts, reading, drawing and writing. Audrey was active in the church throughout her life, singing in the choir and the minister’s wives choral, teaching Sunday school and assisting in ministry work in the many churches her husband served. Audrey held as much interest in the scriptures as her husband and together they participated in an intensive program covering the entire Bible. Together they also co-directed youth summer camp at Camp Aldersgate in Swartswood, N.J. Friends described her as being “the perfect minister’s wife”,she complimented the work in any church they served during forty years of ministry.
