He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, donating his time to the church, working local fair dedicating numerous hours. He was an original member of the Cajun Chefs, the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He also served in the United States National Guard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Vivian Mabile Cavalier; three daughters, Darlene Cavalier Oncale, Pauline Cavalier Aucoin (Anthony) and Wanda Cavalier Sieta; three sons, Sidney J. Cavalier III (Kim), Marvin P. Cavalier (Chenelle) and Jeremy P. Cavalier (Tanya); fourteen grandchildren, Robert (Nikki), Jade (Joseph), Hope (Trent), Rhett (Kayla), Shane, Sidney IV (Katie), Brandi (Bobby), Jami (Ashley), Meagan (Jeff), Jordan, Kynley (Miguel), Kohen, Mason and Owen; fourteen great-grandchildren, Hunter, Rhett S., Eli, Mikah, Rilynn, Lil Shane, Avery, Aubrie, Alivia,Gracie, Ava, Cambrie, Sydney and Raelyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Sidney Cavalier, Sr.; sister, Georgina Cavalier Metrejean; six brothers, Carol, Harold, Albert, Wesley, Hepburn and 3 year old Calvin.
The pallbearers will be Robert, Sidney IV, Mason, Rhett, Jordan, Owen, Shane and Kohen. The honorary pallbearer will be Trent Duval.
The family would like to thank the Kingsmen, the First Responders and Dr. Charles Bolotte for their care and compassion.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part. Then to continue on Monday, December 23, 2024 from 8:00 until the Mass of Christian Burial for 11:00 am at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the church mausoleum. Father Al Davidson will be officiating.
