

Businessman and Prominent Pillar of the Pierre Part-Belle River Community
Fred Anthony Settoon, age 80, of Belle River, Louisiana died on Monday, June 1,
2015 at his home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He will always be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He, along with his wife, Shirley Perera, of Belle River, Louisiana on December 25' 2014 celebrated sixty years of marriage.
He was born on November 26, 1934 the ninth child of Archie and Amelia Settoon deceased Natives of Bayou Pigeon, Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Perera, three daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Carl Waguespack, Cathy and Duane Breaux, and Christie and Greg Gravois; two sons, Scott Settoon, Sr., and fiance, Lauren Wagoner and Russ and Jennifer Settoon, all ofBelle River; 15 grandchildren, Michael Medine, Jr., Nobie Medine Landry, Seth Daigle, Ryan Landry, Blake Landry, Shanon Settoon, Scott, Jr., Gabrielle Settoon, Hunter Settoon, Austin Settoon, Hannah Settoon, Parker Settoon, Blair Settoon, Carley Gravois, and Cole Gravois; and 12 great grandchildren, Michael Medine, III, Meredith Medine, Landon Landry, Lauren Landry, Amelia Landry, Tyler Louviere, Lexi Landry, Madison Landry, Hudsyn Landry, Dylan Hebert, Spencer Hebert, and Ambre Lynn Settoon, a sister Genevieve Settoon and a brother Irvin Settoon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Amelia Settoon of Bayou Pigeon; two sisters, Alverda Gros and Annie Mae (died in infancy); and six brothers, Alvin, Sterling, Marshall, Albert, Dudley, and George (died in infancy).
He is the founder of Settoon Welding Service, Settoon Oilfield Services, Fred Settoon Inc., Settoon Construction Inc, 2S Construction Inc., Settco Oil and Gas Inc., FAS Environmental Services, Inc., Settoon Dock Services Inc., Settoon Towing Inc. formerly Settoon Marine Inc., President and CEO of Belle River
Sites, Inc.
Some of his Outstanding Business Accomplishments, just to name a few are the construction of two ferries for the Mexican Government, a passenger ferry that works at the foot of Canal St. in New Orleans for the Mississippi River Bridge Authority, a 600 ft mooring barge for the Louisiana Army Corps of Engineers, a national park service boat that works on the Great Lakes, and a dredge barge for Great Lakes Dredge and Dock and the very first tug named "Shirley P. Settoon" was sold to the Government of Peru..
Known to be a man of great faith he belongs to St. Joseph the Worker Church and has achieve several projects such as the bulkhead that protects the Virgin Island and a bridge that supplies much needed access, the Belle Tower and the Cross in the Cemetery. Because of his community values he donated countless hours, money, and material to achieve starting organizations and projects throughout the Pierre Part-Belle River Community. Among them the Pierre Part-Belle River Fire Dept., Pierre Part-Belle River Business Group, Pierre Part-Belle River Chapter Ducks Unlimited, Bon Temp Recreation Community Park. He was a member of the Nichols State University Century Club, and the local order Knights of Columbus. The sign in the shape of a book for Pierre Part Elementary School, the benches out front for sitting, and the Pierre Part-Belle River Recreation Park.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 5:00p.m. - 11:00 p.m. and will resume on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 8:00a.m.- 1:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part.
Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Belle River. Arrangments by
Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part.
