David Anthony Bolotte, 72, a native of Marrero and resident of Pierre Part, entered eternal rest on Monday, October 3, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. David was a proud Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam he was exposed to Agent Orange which resulted in his acquiring cancer six times and undergoing numerous surgeries. While in the Army, David received The National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Medal with Four Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal with Valor and one Oak Leaf Cluster. David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Catherine Gaudet Bolotte; his loving dog Cookie; one daughter, Tammy Jo Singletary (James); one son, David Brian Bolotte (Lori); two grandchildren, Kayla Iris Bolotte and Nicolas James Bolotte; one great-grandchild, Hunter Delhommer; three brothers-in-law, Lee Joseph Gaudet (Mitzi), Carlis J. Gaudet (Linda), and George E. Gaudet (Beverly); four sisters-in-law, Barbara Daigle Webb (Eddie), Veronica Gaudet Wells, Audrey Gaudet, and Dorothy Gaudet Johnson. Preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Josephine Landry Bolotte; two sisters, Pearl Mollere and Marie Ann Bolotte; two brothers, Horace “Boogie” Joseph Bolotte Jr., and Edgar Bolotte; special Vietnam friend, Alan Darling.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice, family and friends in Louisiana and special friends at Bandon RV Park in Oregon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 7:30am until 11:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part. Services will be officiated by Reverend Al Davidson.
