Paul Michael Garcia was born June 26,1951 to Antonia and Paul Garcia. He grew up in Pasadena. He recounted that being retained in the third grade was the best thing that ever happened to him. The second time around he had an excellent teacher who worked with him. By the end of that year he was able to read. This provided a foundation for his academic career. Years later, Paul graduated from Blair High School and then attended Pasadena City College. He transferred to UCLA and earned a degree in Political Science in 1975. For many years he worked for the Continental Can Company in Commerce. During this time, he fell in love with Lupe Merchain whom he later married and had five children. He was a good provider and found joy in being a father. In the late 1980's Paul was hired as a Los Angeles County Probation Officer. He loved what he did and worked there for 27 years before retiring. Paul will be remembered as a wise person who smiled often, enjoyed books and movies, and loved his family. He is survived by his five children, 11 grandchildren, mother, sister, nieces, and nephews.
