state of Zacatecas, Mexico. She grew up in Jerez and, for a time, in Guadalajara where she lived with her
mother Concha, her brother Liborio, and her sister Consuelo (Connie). She immigrated to the United
States in 1944, living first in El Paso, and later coming to Los Angeles. There she enrolled in an English
language class where she met Porfirio “Pilo” Arellano who, as it happened, was also a native of Jerez.
They were married in 1950 and made their home in Los Angeles. She worked for California Walnut
Company and for more than thirty years at the Modern Faucet factory. In 1969, they moved to a home
in Huntington Park where they lived for more than forty-five years. Maria was predeceased by her
husband and by her son Carlos Perez. She is survived by her children Rudy Perez, Richard Arellano, and
Martha Arellano Booe. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and ten great granchildren.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.FunerariadelangelMorrows.com for the Arellano family.
