He graduated from Pendleton High School, Class of 1966, and was a lifelong United Methodist. His community service included membership with the Seneca Lions Club and his public service included time on the Oconee County School Board and the Seneca City Council. He enjoyed working at Seneca Mortuary and Dillard Funeral Home.
He is known far and wide for his love of all things Clemson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece Christy Wilson Parr.
He is survived by his wife Beth P. Overfelt; his sisters Linda Oakley and Donna (Sammy) Taylor; son John Robert Fulton (Janet) Evatt; stepchildren Judy Haynes, Susan (Jimmy) Von Hollen and Coulter (Lynn) James; nephew Jason (Annette) Wilson; grandchildren Skyler (Markie) Evatt and Avery Evatt; great niece Riley Wilson; stepgrandchildren Jena (Brian) Curtis, Coulter (Carolina) LaBoone, Alex Von Hollen, Whitney James, and Coulter James, Jr.; and step great-grandchildren Richard LaBoone and Autumn LaBoone.
Visitation with the family will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in the sanctuary of Mount Zion United Methodist Church at 310 Church Street, Central, with the memorial service following at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Robert Stillwell officiating. In honor of Bill, attendees are asked to wear orange or purple.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion UMC homebound ministry.
