Wayne V Hayes

Wayne was the son of the late Furman W. Hayes and Lillie Mae Hayes. He retired from the City of Greenville as the Building Maintenance Superintendent after 25 years of service, and was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for 35 years. When he was not in church or working around his home, he enjoyed time camping with family and spending time with his grandchildren. He was rarely seen without a book in his hands, and was often seen walking all over his neighborhood. Wayne was known for helping others with any odd jobs they needed, and often took care of church needs before anyone ever knew the need existed.

Wayne leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Linda Lewis Hayes, of the home; and his children: CDR (Retired) Travis Hayes (Leah) of Pickens, a daughter Ashley Cothran (Joe) of Pickens, and Whitney Hayes (Angie) of Six Mile. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Abby, Reagan, and Cam Hayes; Emily, Grant, and Trevor Cothran; and Cason and River Hayes; his siblings: Mary Shove, Walker Hayes (Rose), Linda Schrader (Eddie), Fulton Hayes (Joann), and Shirley Burgess (Bill). He was preceded in death by a sister, Queenie Anders.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 6:30 PM until 7:30 PM at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church 830 Country Club Rd Pickens SC 29671 on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
