Mrs. Brown was born in Pickens, SC on February 14, 1923 to the late Marion L. Abercrombie, Sr. and Beulah Winchester Abercrombie. Even though she walked with the aid of a walker, she managed to walk 1,000 steps a day and remained very active with other exercises as well. Mrs. Brown was a longtime and active member of East Pickens Baptist Church where she served for 58 years in the pre-school ministry, and had the opportunity to share the teaching responsibility with her sister, Helen, for several of those years. For the past three years of her life, she had made her home in Anderson with her daughter Juda and attended Pope Drive Baptist Church, where her faithfulness allowed her to be in church three times a week.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter: Juda Addis of Anderson; a son and daughter-in-law: Jimmy and Betty Brown of Lowell, NC; a granddaughter: Leslie Brown of Gastonia, NC; and a sister: Helen Pace of Pickens.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Amos Addis; four sisters: Christine Hayes, Ressie Simmons, Deborah Anthony, and Doris McCombs; and two brothers: Marion Luther Abercrombie, Jr. and Ronnie Abercrombie.
