Mr. Sherril Dean Simmons

Sherril D. Simmons Pickens, SC Sherril Dean Simmons, 84, of the Griffin Community, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Jesse and Artie Hayes Simmons. Mr. Simmons was retired from Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company after 41 years of service and was a member of Griffin Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Lounelle Nealy Simmons; two daughters, Jayne Stancell and Judith Rivers; three sons, Douglas Simmons, Michael Simmons and Keith Simmons; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Frances Gillespie; and a brother, Lendon Simmons. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. The family would like to thank Journey Hospice and Michelle Curtis for the exceptional care they provided to Mr. Simmons. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Griffin Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens.
