Mr. Wright was born in Columbia, SC on November 4, 1951 to the late Robert Lee and Naomi Wright. He always had an eye for anything with a motor, especially Hot Rods and Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and that led him into a life of customizing vehicles in his shops. Mr. Wright started Universal Paint and Body in Columbia, SC and was there for 5 years before moving to the Upstate and starting Richard Wright Paint and Body where he owned and operated his business for over 50 years. He will forever be remembered as a man who loved his family, and was especially proud of his children, grandchildren, and newly born great-grandchild. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the drag strip where he supported his friends from STI Racing from Greer, SC. Mr. Wright will be truly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to meet him and enjoy his sense of humor.
Mr. Wright is survived by his three children: Richard Wright, Jr. (Tricia) of Lexington, SC, Selene Wright-Pearson of Easley, and Dustin Winchester (Jennifer) of Pittsburgh, PA; his four grandchildren: Josiah Winchester, Chloe Winchester, Eden Winchester, and Kimberlee Wright (Zack); a great-grandson: Z.J. Reed; his special friend and companion: Dana Martin; and his two best friends who were with him every day: Ronnie Phillips and Dan Lesley.
