Easley, South Carolina - Mollie Neely Washington won the victory Friday, February 11, 2022. She was born June 17, 1931 in Honea Path, South Carolina. Mollie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated and committed Christian. She loved the Lord, her family, her friends and her church. She was a graduate of Pelzer High School and a former Miss Pelzer. She was part of Liberty First Baptist Church for decades where she was a member of the choir and served in many areas. She worked at First National Bank in Liberty for many years, then worked as a substitute teacher for Pickens County Schools for many years before becoming E.J.’s personal Chauffeur to Fatz Café in Seneca.
She was predeceased by her parents Lanford and Mabel Neely, daughter Susan Washington, grandson E.J. Washington, IV, daughter-in-law Robin and brother Dewey Cochran.
She is survived by her loving husband Ernest Jones Washington, Jr. of 69 years; Sons, EJ Washington, III, Joey (Karen) Washington, and Mark (Janet) Washington; 5 grandchildren, Victoria (Troy) House, Joseph (Brooke) Washington, Ben (Chelsea) Washington, Rebekah Longaker and Lydia Washington; 5 great-grandchildren: Molly, Emmy, Finley, Cora and Julian; sister, Bonnie Kelly and numerous nephews and nieces.
Her celebration of life service is Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Dillard’s Funeral Home Chapel in Pickens, South Carolina at 11 am, 2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, South Carolina 29671. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
