Mary was born in Pickens County, daughter of the late William Jackson Stewart, Sr. and Grace Christine Brucke Stewart. Mary was a life-long resident of Pickens. After graduating from Pickens High School, Mary attended Draughon's Business School, where she made life-long friends. She married her high school sweetheart, the late James T. Craig, Sr., after his return from WWII. Mary was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church. She was very active in church activities, including having taught kindergarten, children's Sunday school, and adult Sunday school classes. Mary was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and sewing for her family. She was an avid Clemson Tiger fan, and had a charitable heart, donating to many local organizations. Most importantly she loved being a mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her three children, Jim Craig (Jean), Jeanne Craig McCrary, and Cathy Craig Metcalf; three grandchildren, Christi McCrary, Andrea McCrary and Scott Craig (Amy) and one great-granddaughter Phoebe Rose Craig. Mary also leaves behind her beloved cat, Bebe. Mary was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jack McCrary; great-grandson, Caleb Jackson McCrary; one brother, William Jackson Stewart, Jr. and one sister, Louise Stewart Keasler.
