Lyle was born in Gillett, Pennsylvania to the late Albert and Alice Roy. He grew up on the farm and had a great love for farm life. This began a strong work ethic in Lyle as he moved forward into ministry, he instilled this into his family.
Lyle was a graduate of Midwestern Baptist Bible College in Pontiac, Michigan where he received his Bachelor's degree in Theology. He loved serving the Lord throughout many years in several ministries. His favorite may have been "The Jolly 60's", a senior focused ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Michigan.
Lyle is survived by his sons, John Roy (Terry) of Easley, Christopher Roy (Pamela) of Liberty, Nathan Roy (Tanya) of Greenville, and daughters Judy Cox (Russ) of Jonesborough, TN, and Janet Stewart of White Lake, MI, two daughters-in-law, Annette Roy and Ruth Roy, twenty one grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; wife of 59 years Cressie Roy; three sons, Lyle D. Roy, Steven Roy, and Phillip Roy; grandson Ryan Stewart; son-in-law James Stewart.
A visitation for Lyle will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, South Carolina, with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 PM. A committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671.
