Judith Brenda Hayes Broughton, 76, of Pickens, wife of the late William “Bill” Broughton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Manna Health and Rehabilitation. Born on March 12, 1941, in Pickens County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Riley and Eulia Powell Hayes. Mrs. Broughton graduated from Pickens High School in 1958, then went on to Anderson College where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. She taught for 15 years in Pensacola, FL and was a member of Christ Church in Pensacola, FL, where she formerly lived. Both she and her husband Bill enjoyed traveling and sailing. Brenda also loved photography and cooking classes at the Highland Lake Inn in Hendersonville, NC. Surviving are her two brothers, Jerry W. Hayes of Pickens and his wife Dora Lou Leslie, and Reverend Tommy L. Hayes of Pickens and his wife Joann Meece Hayes. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Noon at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel, with receiving of friends prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. until Noon.
