Born on May 11, 1936, in Greenville County, he was the son of the late John William and Elizabeth Welch Sewell. He was retired from DB Carter’s of Greenville and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday school class. He was a fan of Nascar and the Clemson Tigers. He was a Jack of all trades and prided in himself to be able to do anything he set his mind to. He enjoyed working on his farm while riding his John Deer tractor and rabbit hunting with his brothers. Most important and dear to his heart was his family whom he loved and cherished. He also loved his church and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Kay Gambrell Sewell; two children, Suzy Cannon (Eddy) of Easley and Johnny Sewell (Donna) of Liberty; two brothers, David Sewell, of Easley and Grady Sewell, of Easley; two sisters, Imogene Bagwell, of Travelers Rest and Louise Horton of Easley; five grandchildren, Andy Rogers (Katie) of Pendleton, Eric Sewell (Caroline) of Easley, Benji Rogers (Becca) of Easley, Chris Sewell (Ginger) of Easley, and Casey Rogers (Kristen) of Easley, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by one sister, Helen Holloway and two brothers, Benny Sewell and Alton Ray Sewell.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 7, 2018, from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel at 3:30 p.m. with the Reverend Doug Estes and Reverend Mickey Gambrell officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
The family will be at the home of his son Johnny Sewell of Liberty.
