Joe Allen Addington Sr.

Joe married Jeanette (Barnett) on September 30, 1950. They were married for over 68 years, Joe joined the Air Force in 1950 and spent 21 years serving his country in multiple locations in and outside of the United States. Joe retired from the Air Force in 1971 and moved back to Easley where he owned and operated Jocassee R.V Campground in Salem, South Carolina.

Joe loved to play golf and was a member of Bonnie Brae Golf Course in Greenville, South Carolina for over 43 years. He has three “hole in ones” to his credit and qualified to play Pebble Beach twice while serving in the Air Force.

Joe will be remembered for his “common sense” approach to life.

Joe was preceded in death by his father and mother L.T. and Grace Addington, brothers James and Louis Addington; sister; Evelyn Henson; brother in laws; Elbert Henson and Preston Raines, and sister in law Frances Addington.

Joe is survived by his wife Jeanette, son Joe Allen Addington Jr. (wife Jeanie) and daughter; Anna M. Dodge; brother; Jack Addington (wife MaryEllen) and sister; Betty Raines, grandchildren; Austin R. Dodge, Greg A. Dodge (wife Amanda), Ian R. Dodge (wife Ali) and Evan Dodge; five great grandchildren; Nylah ,Jack, Elle, Luke and Dylan.

A visitation is planned for Thursday July 18, 2019 5:30pm until 7:30 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens, South Carolina.
