Jimmy was born in Liberty, South Carolina to the late Ivy and Wanza Freeman. He’s a Liberty High School graduate and retired from Duke Power after 34 years. He attended Landmark Baptist Church in Easley. Jimmy was no stranger to hard work and tough as nails. Going to the family cabin on the river was one of his favorite places to be, there he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Affectionately known as Papa, his pride and joy was his four grandchildren. He often attended his three granddaughter's volleyball games and grandson's baseball games. An avid sports fan, he loved watching the Clemson Tigers. He could be often seen riding around in his Jeep.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 49 years Rebecca "Becky" Freeman; daughter Rae Holcombe; son Corey Freeman (Katie); grandchildren Haley Poore (Ranson), Hannah Holcombe, Ivy Freeman, and Max Freeman; brothers Tommy, Bobby and Sammy Freeman; and his sisters Ann Stancil, Sue Ellison, Patsy Bagwell, Jane Todd, June Nix, and many nephews and nieces. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers David and Broadus, and one sister Debbie Patterson

A visitation for Jimmy will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, South Carolina 29671, with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 PM. A committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
