Pickens, SC - Mr. James Allan "Jim" Robinson, 82, loving husband of Mrs. Helene "Honey" Bartels Jervey Robinson, of Pickens, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital.
Jim was born in Hartford, Connecticut on December 18, 1940 to the late James Archibald and Alice Gwendolyn Carney Robinson. His father's job as an industrial consultant required 23 relocations during childhood, up and down the east coast including Columbia, SC, during World War II. Jim received his Bachelor's Degree in French from Syracuse University, and his Masters Degree in French from Laval University in Quebec City, Canada. In 1974, after teaching the French Language for ten years at the Junior High through college levels, he started Gramma's Attic, a mail order vinyl record business. His passion for music led to three years as classical music critic for the Savannah Morning News. In 1995, after relocating to the Upstate of South Carolina, he was an avid concert goer, particularly appreciating the Furman University Percussion Department. He loved rabbits, and served as a volunteer and board member at Rabbit Sanctuary, Inc., in Simpsonville, South Carolina, until his health declined.
In addition to his loving wife of 54 years, Jim is survived by a cousin: Mary Ann Carney Vinton of Exeter, New Hampshire; Honey's nine siblings: Stephen Jervey (Kathy), William Jervey (Pam), Richard Jervey (Angela), Genevieve Jervey (Wallace Blanchard), Cecilia Fowle, Rev. Allen Jervey (Carol), Therese Jervey, Edward Jervey (Cindy), and Caroline Jervey (Rosario Carrazana); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jim will be missed for his compassion, empathy, intellect, and sense of humor.
A private graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Dillard Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, SC 29671.
