Helen L. Long

Helen L. Long, age 87, of Easley, South Carolina passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Helen was born April 12, 1934, in Macon County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Louis Div Rice and Timmie Lee Lakey Rice.

She loved any plant that bloomed and always had a colorful yard. She had a green thumb and had great joy in making things grow. She loved roses and had all types of roses and peony’s blooming all season. She could make magic happen with a crochet hook. From the big bulky wools and yarns to tatting with thread, she made many beautiful items which she always shared with family and friends. She could take an item apart and write a pattern for it. She had a talent and skill we all admired. Our mother could sing. She and her brother Earl sang for years as “Point of Light”. They made many cassettes and CD’s. She loved traveling with her brother and making music.

She is survived by her children, David(Barbara), Daniel(Jan), Will(Paula), Angee, Joe(Angie), 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She was very proud of her 5 generations.

Helen was also predeceased by her daughter Nora, brothers Glenn, Leroy and Ward, sister Gladys and son-in-law Charles Raxter.

A visitation for Helen will be held Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Dillard Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel 2:15 PM.
