She was born in Oconee County to the late Russell William Campbell and Annie May Holcombe Campbell. She was raised in Fair Play, SC, and lived out the rest of her life in Six Mile, SC. She retired from West Point Stevens after 23 years and is widely known for selling at the Pickens Flea Market for many years. Her love for life was baking cakes and pies, gardening, and planting flowers. She was a longtime member of the Six Mile Church of God of Prophecy.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Amos Clifton Evans; son David Paul Evans; grandson Joshua Matthew Goss; four brothers William, Alvin, Winifred, and Clarence Campbell, and sister Stella Brake.
She is survived by children Amos Clifton Evans Jr. (Phyllis), Daniel Wayne Evans (Kathy), Stephen Evans (Michelle), Rachel Elaine Goss (Roger), Shannon Arnold (Jon), and Janice Young (Bryan); one sister, Betty Campbell Brown, 17 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Services to honor and celebrate her life:
Receiving friends Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, SC 29671.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 4:00 pm at Six Mile Church of God of Prophecy, 133 Furman L Smith Memorial Hwy., with burial to follow at the church.
The family will be at the home of Janice Young, daughter, in Six Mile, SC.
