Mr. David McAlister

David was born on August 8, 1933, in Pickens County, son of the late Claude H. McAlister and Ruby Chapman McAlister. He was a graduate of Easley High School and served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. David retired from Saco Lowell and was a self taught guitar player who loved watching Clemson football. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and his priorities were taking care of his family.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara Robinson McAlister; five children, Debbie Mahaffey (Dale), Diane Chastain (Steve), Greg McAlister (Carrie), Suzi Lozar (Gary), Patti Downs (Napoleon) and one brother, Ray McAlister (Gail). David leaves behind to cherish his memory, thirteen grandchildren, Sonya Nabors (Jake), Cheri Scruggs, Leigh Ann Duncan (Brad), John David Harrison, Tyler Harrison, Mila Lozar, Kristina Lozar, Matthew McAlister, Jonathan McAlister, Justin McAlister, Brandon McAlister, Maria McAlister and Will McAlister; eight great-grandchildren, James, Sydney, Randi Leigh, Amber, Willow, Carson, Lexi and Blade; and four great great-grandchildren, Brentley, Olivia, Ford, and Bella. David was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Owens.

Funeral services will be held on Monday January 18, 2021, at 12 p.m. in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Keith Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
