Mr. Batson was born in Pickens on August 20, 1935 to the late Spencer and Eunice Porter Batson. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, and grandfather that dedicated his life to his family. He loved to travel, especially to the beach and to the lake where he spent many weekends with his group of special friends, and was a jokester among anyone who knew him. Mr. Batson was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of Pickens First Baptist Church.
In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Batson is survived by his two children: Scott L. Batson (Tammy) of Pickens and Melody Sudduth (Greg) of Cumming, GA; and four grandchildren: Tara Davis (Josh) of Pickens, Olivia Blakley (Austin) of Anderson, Lance Sudduth (Alena) of Dawsonville, GA, and Isabella Garcia (Arnold) of Cumming, GA.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic, masks will be required to attend the services and social distancing will be observed at the cemetery.
No formal visitation is planned, however friends may drop by Dillard Funeral Home on Sunday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to sign the register book and leave memories of Mr. Batson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to either the Pickens First Baptist Church: 406 E Main Street, Pickens, SC 29671; or to the Shriners Hospital For Children: 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
