Easley, SC - Mrs. Barbara Ann Newton Collins, 83, loving wife of the late Robert Earl Collins, went to her final home to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 22, 2023 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Barbara was born in Anderson County on Sunday, February 19, 1939 to the late Edith Elaine Martin an Clyde Crayton Newton. Barbara was a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse and served in this capacity both on the job and to many of her friends and family. Her passion for her profession was unfaltering. Upon her retirement, she served as a volunteer at Easley Baptist Hospital for a number of years more. She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church where she shared her beautiful voice and love of music as a member of their choir for many years. Barbara was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, and friend who shared her love of life, laughter, and compassion with everyone she knew and met. Her love of nature and animals was share with all her knew her as well.
Barbara is survived by her two sons: Robert Watson Collins (Hilda) and John Christopher Collins (Debbie), both of Easley; her two daughters: Edith Elaine Collins Lane (Holbert Birchfield) of Liberty and Jane Marie Collins Wooten (Bill) of Hickory, NC; two granddaughters: Kristen Renae Collins Thrift (Shawn) of Pickens and Savannah Marie Wooten of Hickory, NC; a sister: Daisy Mae Newton Lindsey (Gordon) of Indian Land, SC; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her loving husband and her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her two brothers: John Edward Newton and Ansel Garner Newton; two sisters: Juanita Faye Newton Foster and Joan Marie Newton Martin; a son-in-law: Howard Linton Lane, Jr.; and a daughter-in-law: Carolyn Craig Collins.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her dear neighbors of Cobblestone. She treasured your friendships so very much. A special note of love is also expressed to Casper, her faithful companion whom you all knew!
Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 27, 2023 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. A gathering of friends and family will follow the service in the Chapel on Friday.
