Yancy Kwan of Tempe passed away on October 25th, 2024. Yancy Kwan has lived a long and fulfilling life until the age of 82. He was born in Canton, China in 1942 to Wong (Eng) Song Xie 黄松新 (father) and Zhou Yue Ying 周月英(mother). He is embarking on his final journey to rejoin his parents. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gin Gee Kwan, his children Jean (David) Ong, William (Lisa) Kwan, Susie (Ryan) Poole and Weston (Cammie) Kwan, his granddaughters Brandi, Aly, Celine, Madi and Wylee.
He wants to be remembered as a hardworking man. In March 1963, he married Gin Gee Kwan. Together, they raised a warm and caring family. He had the fortune of knowing many close dear friends in his life. He immigrated to the United States August 1976, and he worked for his family as the local butcher in Buckeye, AZ. He successfully operated New Garden Restaurant from 1985 to 2002. He loved classical music and enjoyed playing Chinese instruments, all of which were self-taught: Erhu二胡, Guzheng 古筝,he loved to listen to Cantonese Opera, Cantonese music, he often played the Erhu for us at home. He also enjoyed writing Chinese calligraphy with the writing brush 毛筆字.
Yancy Kwan's funeral service will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix AZ. 85009 on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. His viewing will be at 10 AM, with his service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix.
