William Howard Sanders, a native of Phoenix, Arizona was born on July 9, 1955 to Charles A. J. Sanders and Rose Powell Sanders. He worked for the last 23 years as a bus operator under contract with the City of Phoenix. He attended St. Gregory’s Catholic elementary school and West Phoenix High School and held associate degrees from Phoenix College and Glendale Community College. He served in the US Air Force after which he held a number of jobs finally finding a home with Phoenix Transit.
He enjoyed bowling and playing cards, especially bridge. At Scottdale Community College he earned a certificate as a card dealer, able to work at the local casinos. He loved music and could be found any day listening to his favorite tunes.
“Bill” is survived by his children, Melissa and Kevin Sanders, a brother, Mike Sanders, and 2 sisters, Rosann Hinshaw and Becky Schormann as well as nieces Janet Dempsey, Karen Bodine and Ginny Medinilla, and nephews Richard Hinshaw and Scott Newell.
On September 19 he lost his year and a half battle with leukemia.
He will be surely be missed and as Bill would say, ”and don’t call me Shirley”.
