William Charles Collins

William Charles Collins, age 84, of Clifton, Illinois and Phoenix, Arizona, died Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born February 25, 1932 in Kankakee, son of Andrew J. and Verna A. Tengdin Collins. Bill married Connie J. Schultz on November 17, 1956 in Kankakee. Bill served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1956, part of which time occurred during the Korean War. He retired in the 1990’s after a long career with the Teamsters Union. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clifton, Illinois for about 40 years. Bill is survived by his wife Connie, of Phoenix, AZ; four daughters and sons-in-law, Natasha and Rick Dennis of Phoenix, AZ, Valerie and James Jaenicke of Kankakee, IL, Jennifer and Steve Sanchez of Phoenix, AZ, and Kathryn and Shannon Shutter of Kankakee; one son, Timothy Collins of Clifton, IL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Andrea and Phil Stark of Savannah, GA , and Kathy and Steve Beinor of Sun City, AZ; one brother, George Collins, of Savannah, GA; three grandsons, Andrew Mackin and Kobe Shutter of Kankakee and Wyatt Sanchez of Phoenix, AZ; three granddaughters, Zoe Dennis and Sydnee Sanchez of Phoenix, AZ and Kennedy Shutter of Kankakee ; several cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, father- and mother-in-law, Walter and Florence Schultz; grandson, Nathan Mackin; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and William Uitto; brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Leona Collins; brother Daniel Collins; and sister-in-law Claire Schultz. He enjoyed vintage cars, NASCAR racing, and collecting a variety of household items, such as clocks.

Visitation will be from 9 am Saturday, June 11 until the 11 am funeral service at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 450 E. Third Avenue in Clifton, Illinois. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary 710 W. Bethany Home Rd, Phoenix, AZ. Inurnment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N Cave Creek Rd Phoenix, AZ 85024. Arrangements under the direction of A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, Phoenix, AZ.
