Wendy Hosking Spivey, age 50, was born fighting and continued to do so until her passing at home June 10, 2017. She is survived by her father (William Hosking/Jen), her sister (Allison Suriano/Tom), and her two sons (Michael and Vincent Spivey).
Wendy graduated from Saguaro High School (84), Scripps College (88), with a dual degree in Biology and Chemistry; and a MBA from ASU (2010). She worked at The City of Hope, taught high school science at LA Unified, and became a broker at Merrill Lynch and Charles Schwab. Most of all, Wendy was an amazing mother to her boys and they were an integral part of her care through her final months.
The family is grateful for the support of so many people but most of all: the employees of Charles Schwab, Synergy Home Care, Hospice of the Valley, Alan Spivey, Dana Donaldson, Mary Lou Goldstein, and her team at the University of Arizona Cancer Center especially Dr. Wendt, Dr. Youseff, and Dr. Tobias.
We pray that her six-year battle with breast cancer will be a symbol of hope to other women who are given what appears to be a death sentence and that her long survival with newly approved drugs/treatments for this horrible disease provide data that help other women live long enough to see their children grow up.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 23 at 11:00 am AL Moore Bethany Chapel in Phoenix 710 W. Bethany Home Road Phoenix, AZ 85013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to http://www.heartacancerfighter.org or http://www.svdpusa.org
