Walter Orson Richins died early March 1, 2016 at the age of 75. Walter was born on March 13, 1940 in Morenci, Arizona to Orson Oriel Richins, Jr and Helene Windsor Richins. He was married to Ronola Jolly Richins for 41 years who precedes him in death. He is survived by his current wife of 12 years, Diane Rogers Richins and three sons, Kirk, Kris, and Kyle along with six grandchildren, eighteen step grandchildren and two great grandsons. He is also survived by his five siblings: Clark Richins, Hazel Light, Dianne Cherry, Sally Berdick and Glenn Richins. As an Arizona native he grew up in Morenci, Tempe and central Phoenix. He is a graduate of Tempe Union High School. He was an avid Boy Scouter earning the rank of Eagle at the age of 14 and the Duty to God award. He advanced through the ranks of the armored car business starting with Armored Motor Services of Arizona then Purolator Armored and retiring as Regional Vice President for the southwest region of Loomis Armored Incorporated. As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served a two year mission in the Southern States Mission in Florida during 1961 and 1962. Throughout his life he served wherever he was asked including as Bishop, Scout Master, and the Young Men’s program. Walt served the Laveen community throughout the years in the Laveen Summer Ball Program and assisting with the annual community BBQ. He enjoyed life at any level with an enthusiasm for dancing and music, golf, and serving others. He was most passionate about his family and his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Over all he was a wonderful individual, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He has blessed many lives and considered to be a spiritual giant by family friends. A Visitation will be held 9:00am, Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4125 W. Baseline Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85041 with Funeral Service following at 10:00am. Interment will then be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85009
