Virginia was a very creative, smart, beautiful and determined woman. As a young girl, it was her dream to go to art school in New York City. However, when family circumstances wouldn’t allow for that, she took a job at the garment district in NYC for 2 years to save up college tuition money. She adventurously decided on a college across the country in Angwin, California, called Pacific Union College. It was there that she met her future husband - Halford Reid Price. They married on August 3, 1952 and began their grand adventure together, starting with getting Hal through Loma Linda University School of Medicine, or CME as it was then known. They spent 63 wonderful years together. After an internship in Lansing, Michigan, they headed back out west to Arizona. Dr. Hal was the third doctor in Scottsdale! In 1957 he bought a practice in South Phoenix where they worked and lived for over 45 years. Virginia provided the support system behind the scenes for Hal as he was very busy in those early days seeing patients all day, then making house calls and delivering babies at night. She was the business manager, taking care of the employees and all the various details. They took on many other challenges such as starting Inspiration Books, a foundation focused on distributing books written by Ellen White, a prominent writer from the Seventh Day Adventist church. Millions of books were distributed worldwide for over 30 years through their efforts. They operated a cattle ranch in Colorado for a number of years, giving the whole family an insight into country living not to mention a love for animals, especially horses. Virginia and Hal also liked to travel, with their favorite destination being Hawaii. She also enjoyed taking flying trips with Hal, who was an avid pilot. Virginia continued to paint and draw off and on over the years, and was a natural talent.
Virginia was the last remaining sibling from the family of Olga & Joe Baker of Plainfield, New Jersey. Sidney, Winston & Jeanette have all preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters - Dr Ginger Price of Phoenix, Arizona, and Carol Price of Rochester Minnesota, and three grand children - Reid Michael Price of Brisbane, Australia; Colton Ford Kreiling of Rochester, Minnesota and Lacy Magnolia Kreiling of Minneapolis, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice of The Valley would be greatly appreciated.
